SuperHeroes: Showreel [3D] + Bumpers [2D]

After a while of waiting, I’m glad to say the showreel for SuperHeroes is finally up!

It features about 2-3 years worth of work, most of which I was Motion Lead for.

I was asked to make a nice little opening for it, to which me and then-intern Fredrik Dejert tackled with the concept of the SuperHeroes avatars being dropped from a plane/zeppelin and going to do… SuperHeroes stuff.

It was good to finally use the whole roster of avatars that I’d made in 3D a while back; in the past I’ve only used the ice superhero, the fire superhero, and of course the main superhero.

Besides that, I was also asked to create a new Site Opening and some Bumpers for in-between content that’s to be displayed. After fairly long render-times with the Reel Opener, I opted to go for a 2D approach – which is closer to the roots of the original SuperHeroes branding.

It’s funny to think about how about 2 years ago I was in charge of making the 2D avatars into 3D, and now we’re back to a mix of both.

And finally, an animatic for the opening bit of the showreel. All done in C4D, clouds were made using Think Particle’s Cloud Generator. Compositing in After Effects.
